About the Pound Sign design
The top arc swings up and around like a shepherd's crook, ending at the upper right on a blunt angled cut rather than a taper. Below it the stem bends back left, then the base bar runs out right and curls up at its end, finishing in the same clipped edge. A short crossbar cuts through the waist, flush on the left with the base bar below and stopping well short of it on the right.
