About the Art Nouveau Letter D design
The bowl of this D rarely stays a clean half circle. In the two heaviest faces the stem pinches at the waist and flares at top and foot, and one of them kicks a small hooked tail out past the bottom left corner. Two lighter faces open into wide round bowls held by thin top and bottom bars, one finishing its serifs in soft rounded knobs. The fifth narrows to a tall wedge, its curve sliding down to meet the stem in a sharp point, like a sail.
