About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The letter A is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
Five Art Nouveau typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Nouveau Letter A design
Curves take over the apex and crossbar of this A. In one face the bar bends into an arch rising from the left leg to the heavy right stroke, and another closes its top into a smooth pointed dome. A brushy version curls its left foot into a hook and pushes its bar past the leg as a small flag. The two serif faces stay stiffer, one pairing a hairline left stroke with a thick right, the other standing on rounded slab feet.
