About the Art Deco Number 8 design
A fat diagonal stroke swings from upper left to lower right through most of these eights, while hairline curves close the loops around it. One face never closes them at all, ending both arms in small curled knobs so the figure opens into a swash. Two others slice a thin white sliver down the heavy stroke, and another thins to a wire of two stacked ovals. The oddest face squares everything off into a slab with bowed top and bottom edges and two rectangular windows.
