About the sign
One character, cut from a single sheet of steel. The letter B is the whole sign: there is no backing plate and no border, so the shape on the wall is the character itself.
8 Art Deco typefaces to choose from, each measured against the steel at every size offered before it was drawn for sale.

About the Art Deco Letter B design
In several of these faces the stem of the B swells into a solid black slab taking up nearly half the letter's width, so the curves hang off it like thin loops of ribbon. One face splits that slab with a narrow white pinstripe, and another opens the stem into twin rails with curled tails at top and bottom. Elsewhere, a hairline version tips its upper bowl into a point, while the widest face squashes both counters into flat horizontal slots.
