About the Hourglass design

Flat bars cap the top and bottom, each running out well past the sides. Between them the outer edges drop dead straight, so all the narrowing happens on the inside, where a downturned bowl and an upturned dome squeeze toward each other and leave only a sliver of steel between. Neither chamber comes to a cone. Both curve like the inside of a bell, which makes the waist look pinched rather than tapered.
