About the Half Drop design

A teardrop tapers to a sharp point at the top and swells into a near circle below, but only the right half is solid steel. The left half is an empty sail, bounded by a dead straight vertical edge that drops from the point to the bottom of the curve, and by a band that thickens as it rounds the base. That straight edge splits the drop clean down the middle, the way a shadow falls across something round.
