About the Stethoscope design

Two square stubs rise above a tall horseshoe of even-width steel, tucked just inside its arms so the top edge steps up and down instead of running flat. One stroke drops from the base of that horseshoe, swings right in a long low sweep, and climbs back up to a small ring set high at the far corner. That lower curve has the exact hang of a fishhook, and the ring is the one closed loop in the whole outline.
