About the Crosshair design
A heavy ring holds the whole design, and four short square tabs push straight out from it at top, bottom, left and right, each one exactly as wide as the band it grows from. Nothing crosses the middle. The tabs are stubby, barely longer than the ring is thick, so they read as the clipped outer ends of lines that were never drawn inward.
