About the Meander Cross design

Mirrored halves of a stepped maze fill this square frame, split by a horizontal bar strung between two inner uprights like a broad letter H. A short stem drops through a gap in the top border to the floor of a shallow tray, and an identical stem climbs from the bottom. Around each tray, black lines turn in right angled steps and T shaped branches. A white channel keeps the H apart from the unbroken outer frame down both sides.
