Where the Miller name comes from

Miller is whoever ran the mill, and it is one of the most translated surnames in Europe. Mueller and Muller in German, Moller and Moller again in the Nordic languages, Molnar in Hungarian, Mlinar in Slovene, Molinero in Spanish and Molinaro in Italian are all the same job under a different roof. There is a second Miller with no mill in it at all, a toponymic name for people from a locale in Glasgow. Millar is the same surname with a different vowel.
