About the When I Was Hungry design
HUNGRY anchors the bottom of the plate, its six letters standing about half again as tall as anything above. The apology reaches it through three shorter rows, opening in broad, roomy capitals. The middle two rows pinch narrower and pack their words tight, so each lone I shrinks to a thin post between neighbors. That squeeze leaves the final word looking like a heavy footing poured under the whole stack.
